Question

If a = 1 and r =23, find (a) Tn (b) T4

Open in App
Solution

We know that the formula for the nth term of an G.P is Tn=arn1, where a is the first term, r is the common ratio.

It is given that the first term is a=1 and the common ratio is r=23, thus,

(a) Tn=1×(23)n1=(23)n1

(b) T4=1×(23)41=(23)3=2333=827

Hence, Tn=(23)n1 and T4=827.
