The correct option is A 6
Given, $a^{2} + b^{2} = 20$ and $a b = 8$ .
$∵ (a + b)^{2} = a^{2} + b^{2} + 2 a b$
$∴ (a + b)^{2} = 20 + (2 \times 8)$
$\Rightarrow (a + b)^{2} = 36$
$\Rightarrow (a + b) = 6$
