If a,a-2 and 3a are consecutive terms of an AP,

then find the value of a

In an A.P. the succeeding terms will be differed by a common difference.

i.e difference between first and second term = difference between second and third term

Apply that concept here.

Given,
a, a-2, 3a are consecutive term
So as per the above explained property,

(a-2) - a = 3a - (a-2)
-2 = 2a+2
2a= -4
a = -4/2
hence a=-2

And the given terms are
-2, -4, -6
