Question

If A and B are two events such that P(AB)=34, P(AB)=14, P(A)=23, then P(AB) is ______________.

Open in App
Solution

For two events of A and B,

given, P(A⋃B) = 34

P(A⋂B) = 14

PA=23

then PAB=PB-PAB

since PA=23
PA=1-PA=1-23=13

Hence P(B) = P(A⋃B) – P(A) + P(A⋂B) [using P(A⋃B) = P(A) + P(B) – P(A⋂B)

i.e PB=34-13+14=1-13=23 PAB=23-14=8-312i.e PAB=512
