If A : B = 5 : 6 and B : C = 4 : 7, find A : B : C.

We have the following:

A : B = 5 : 6
B : C = 4 : 7 = $\frac{4}{7} = \frac{4 \times \frac{6}{4}}{7 \times \frac{6}{4}} = 6 : \frac{21}{2}$

∴ A : B : C = 5 : 6 : $\frac{21}{2}$ = 10 : 12 : 21
