For 1st part of its motion,
Let initial vel. = u
∴final vel=u2s=3cm
∴(u2)2−u2=2.a.3⇒a=−u28
For 2nd part of its motion,
Initial vel=u2;final vel=0;a=−u28
∴0−u24=−2×u28×x⇒x=1cm
