Question

If a body moves along horizontal direction the gravitational force on the body is zero then when bullet fired from the gun and the released immediately then how the gun and the bullet reach the ground in same time?

Solution

If a body moves in the horizontal direction, the gravitational force on the body is not zero. The effect will be in the vertical direction. In projectile motion, the horizontal component of motion is not affected by vertical components. However, forces along the vertical direction will cause changes in vertical motion. When bullet and gun are released, both have zero velocity in the vertical direction initially and have the same acceleration in the vertical direction. So, the time taken by them to reach ground will be same. However, the horizontal distance covered by them before reaching ground will be same.
