When body moves from $x=-6\text{m}$ to $x=+4\text{m}$, the total distance travelled by it is,
$\Rightarrow S=6+4=10\text{m}$
While travelling from $x=-6\text{m}$ to $x=0$ it will travel a distance $6\text{m}$ and another $4\text{m}$ while going from $x=0$ to $x=4\text{m}$
$\therefore v_{\text{avg}}=\frac{10}{4}=2.5\text{m/s}$
