if a burning piece of magnesium wire is dipped in a jar full of air it burns for some time and then extingushed .A white powder is obtained at the bottom of the jar .Explain the observation giving chemical equation involved?

Magnesium ribbon burnt using the oxygen present in the air and it forms Magnesium oxide which is ash in colour.
