If a cake is cut into thirds and each third is cut into fourths, how many pieces of cake are there?

Let the cake be x
Now the cake has cut into thirds = 13×x=x3
Now the cake has 3 parts just the inverse
Each third is cut into fourth = 14×13×x=x12
So the cake has 12 parts in all.
