Question

If a car covers 82.5 km in 5.5 litres of petrol, how much distance will it cover in 13.2 litres of petrol?

Open in App
Solution

The distance covered is directly proportional to the litres of petrol.
Let a distance covered with 13.2 litres of petrol
So, 5.5:13.2=82.5:a

Applying the rule, product of extremes = product of means

5.5×a=13.2×82.5

a=13.2×82.55.5

a=198

Hence, the distance covered with 13.2 litres of petrol is 198 km.
