Total no. of students in class $= 60$
Let there be x students
Then, Boys $:$ Girls $= 2 : 1$
$∴ 2 x + x = 60$
$∴ 3 x = 60$
$x = 20$
$∴$ No. of boys $= 2 x$
$= 2 \times 20$
$= 40$ boys
$∴$ No. of girls $= x = 20$ girls.
