When we direct the thumb of our right hand towards the direction of current in the straight wire, the curl of the fingers gives the direction of magnetic field. If we point our thumb in the positive x-direction and place our fingers at y-axis, the fingers point towards the negative z direction. Hence, the direction of magnetic field is along the negative z-direction.
