Question

If a convex lens is kept in water does its convergent power decreases?

Open in App
Solution

The converging power of a lens depends upon the difference of refractive index of the media outside the lens and that of the lens. Since water has a higher refractive index, this difference decreases resulting in a decrease of converging power.
