Solution

The correct option is A Tetraploid
Colchicine inhibits the formation of microtubules that are involved in the formation of spindle fibers. These spindle fibers are necessary to equally divide the chromosomes in a parental cell into two daughter cells. If microtubules are not formed the genetic material will not be distributed in the two newly forming cells. Hence new cell formation will be inhibited in the metaphase stage and the diploid cell will have twice the number of chromosomes and it will become tetraploid. Thus the correct answer is option A.
