If a person is reading a novel, then at what position his ciliary muscles are?
Contracted
If we are looking at a nearby object then the lens has to be strained and focused to bend the incoming light more so as to form the image at the retina. So the lens has to be thick and the ciliary muscles have to be contracted to reduce the focal length.
