The correct option is C 40 J
The equivalent circuit can be drawn as -

The equivalent resistance of the circuit is,

R=20×2020+20=10 Ω

So,

P=V2R=2210=0.4 W

Now, heat produced,

H=Pt

H=0.4×100=40 J

Hence, option (C) is the correct answer.
