Question

If a stomata closes at night then where does the diffusion of gas occur through ,that is how does the plant respire?

Open in App
Solution

During the night no photosynthesis takes place but respiration still take place so diffusion of respiratory gases is required. We must understand that stomatas are never completely closed. During night there still remains some space for the diffusion of carbon dioxide and oxygen. No organism can survive if respiration stops.
