It is a contraceptive device that is surgically fixed in the uterus.
It is a completely reversible and safe contraceptive.
It basically does not allow fertilization to take place.
But it does not provide a barrier against the mixing of body fluids, hence we can say they do not prevent sexually-transmitted diseases.
