The equation is x + $\frac{a}{2}$ = 2x – 5

Substitute the value of x = a and then check

x + $\frac{a}{2}$ = 2x – 5

a + $\frac{a}{2}$ = 2x – 5

$\frac{2 a + a}{2}$ = 2x - 5

$\frac{3 a}{2}$ = 2x – 5

2x – $\frac{3 a}{2}$ = 5

Putting x = a, we get:

2a – $\frac{3 a}{2}$ = 5

$\frac{4 a - 3 a}{2}$ = 5

$\frac{a}{2}$ = 5
