C = {x : x = 3n, n∈N and 4 ≤ n < 10}, then show that A – (B∩C) = (A – B) ∪ (A – C) (3 mark)

A = {0, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30};
B = {6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18};
C = {12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27} (1 mark)

B∩C = {6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18} ∩ {12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27}
= {12, 18}

A – (B∩C) = {0, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30} – {12, 18}
= {0, 6, 24, 30}………(1) (1 mark)

A – B = {0, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30} – {6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18}
= {0, 24, 30}

A – C = {0, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30} – {12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27}
= {0, 6, 30}

(A – B) ∪ (A – C) = {0, 24, 30} ∪ {0, 6, 30}
= {0, 6, 24, 30}……..(2)

From (1) and (2) we get,
A – (B∩C) = (A – B) ∪ (A – C). (1 mark)
