Assume that the object is beyond the focus in the case of concave mirror and new cartesian sign convention.

1. CD: Positive
2. CD: Negative
3. AB: Positive
4. AB: Negative

Solution

The correct option is B Concave mirror - 2, 3, 6, 8
Plane mirror - 1, 3, 6, 7
Object distance is taken as negative always. So, AP is negative for both mirrors. (Concave mirror - 6, Plane mirror - 6)
Also, object size is taken as positive always. So, AB is positive for both mirrors (Concave mirror - 3, Plane mirror - 3)

For a plane mirror,
  • Image is erect. So, CD is positive. (Plane mirror- 1)
  • For a plane mirror, image is on the opposite side of the mirror to the object. So, CP is positive.(Plane mirror- 7)
For a concave mirror, when object is beyond focus:
  • Image is inverted. So, CD is negative. (Cocave mirror- 2)
  • For a plane mirror, image is on the same side of the mirror to the object. So, CP is negative. (Concave mirror- 8)
Compiling all, we get:
Plane mirror- 1, 3, 6, 7
Concave mirror- 2, 3, 6, 8
