Question

If α and β are the zeroes of a polynomial x243x+3, then find the value of α+βαβ.

Open in App
Solution

We know that for any quadratic polynomial

p(x)=ax2+bx+c where a0

Let α,β be the zeroes of the polynomial p(x)

Then, α+β=ba and αβ=ca

Now, given that

p(x)=x243x+3

So, we have α+β=43

αβ=3

Using above values we get

α+β (αβ)=433
