Question

If alpha and beta are the zeros of f(x) = K x square - 2 X + 3 k and alpha + beta = Alpha * beta then find k

Open in App
Solution

We have, equation f(x) = kx^2 - 2x + 3k
a= k, b= -2 and c= 3k
alpha + beta = -b/a = -(-2)/k = 2/k ----(1)
alpha*beta= c/a = 3k / k = 3 ------(2)

Given that (1) = (2)

=> 2/k = 3
=> k = 2/3

Hope this helps
