"If alpha and beta are the solutions of the polynomial"

x^2 + x - 2 =0

(x+2)(x -1) = 0

=> x= -2 or x =1

therefore (alpha,beta) = (1,-2) or (-2,1)

1/alpha - 1/beta = +(3/2) or -(3/2)
