Solution

The correct options are
A

1:4

B

4:1

Let A be A.M., G be G.M. and H be HM between 2 numbers a & b

Given A = G + 52 --------------(1)

G = H + 2 H = G - 2 -------------(2)

We know that G2 = AH

G2 = (G + 52)(G-2) [from (1) & (2)]

/G/2=/G/2 -2G + 52G - 5

-4G + 5G = 10

G = 10

ab = 100 ----------(3)

From (1), A = a+b2 = 252

a+b = 25 ----------(4)

Solving (3) & (4), we get

a + 100a = 25

a2 - 25a + 100 = 0

a2 - 20a - 5a + 100 = 0

a(a - 20) - 5(a -20) = 0

a = 5 (or) a = 20

b = 20 (or) b = 5

So, the ratio of numbers is 1:4 (or) 4:1.
