If an angle exceeds its supplement by 44°, then find the angle.

Open in App
Solution

Let the angle be x°

Then, its supplement is 180 x° ....(Sum of supplementary angles is 180°) (1 marks)

Angle exceeds - it's supplement = 44°

x° - (180° - x°) = 44°

x° - 180° + x° = 44°

2x° = 224°

x = 112°

Verification: Angle = 112°, Supplement = 180° - 112° = 68°

Angle - Supplement = 112° - 68° = 44° (1 marks)
