Question

If an electron having kinetic energy 23V is accelerated through the potential difference of 2 volt. Then calculate the wavelength with the electron.

Open in App
Solution

Kinetic energy of electron=23V
Potential difference = 2V
The total kinetic energy=23+2=25eV

25×1.6×1019J 4×1018J

Now by using formula,

λ=h2mK
where, h=plancks constant
m=mass of electron
K=kinetic energy

therefore,

λ=6.63×10342×9.1×1031×6.4×1019=6.14×1010

=6.14Ao

hence debroglie wavelength is 6.14Ao
