If an elephant eats 40kg of hay in a day, what quantity will it eat in

a) a fortnight, b) a month, and c) a year? (Fortnight means 15 days, 1 month =2 fortnight)

Step 1: Calculating the quantity of hay eaten by the elephant in a fortnight.

Given: In one day elephant eats =40kg.

So, In a fortnight ( 15 days ) elephant will eat =40×15

=600 kg

Step 2: Calculating the quantity of hay eaten by the elephant in a month.

In a month ( 30 days ) elephant will eat =40×30

=1200 kg

Step 3: Calculating the quantity of hay eaten by the elephant in a year.

In a year ( 365 days ) elephant will eat =40×365

=14600 kg

Hence, an elephant eats 600 kg in a fortnight, 1200 kg in a month and 14600 kg in a year.
