If an object 10cm high is placed at a distance of 36 cm from a concave mirror of focal length 12cm, find the position, nature and height of image.

Clearly, the objectis blaced beyond C i.e., 2f = 24 cm ..

since 36 > 24

Thus, the the image is formed between C and F

Now, 1/v + 1/u = 1/f

=> 1/v - 1/36 = -1/12

=> 1/v = 1/36 - 1/12 = 1-3/36 = -2/36 = -1/18

Thus, v = -18 cm

Now, he/ho = -v/u

=>he/10 = -(-18/-36)

=>he = -20 cm

Hence, the height of the object is 20cm and is inverted...!!
