When n+l rule is obeyed, the configuration is
26Fe=1s2,2s2,2p6,3s2,3p6,4s2,3d6.
Since, (n+l) for each unpaired electron is 5, so for 4 unpaired electrons in 26Fe, (n+l) is 5×4=20.
When n+l rule is not obeyed, the configuration is
26Fe=1s22s22p63s23p63d8.
Since, (n+l) for each unpaired electron is 5, so for 2 unpaired electrons in 26Fe, (n+l) is 5×2=10.
Now,
% change =201020×100=50=10x.
x=5.
