Solution

The correct option is B -1 and +5
If Cl2 is passed through hot aqueous NaOH, it results in the formation of sodium chloride and sodium chlorate as:

6NaOH(Hot and concentrated)+3Cl25NaCl+NaClO3+3H2O

In NaCl, let oxidation state of Cl be x.

1+x=0 or x=1

In NaClO3, let oxidation state of Cl be y.

1+y+(2)3=0
y5=0
y=+5

Thus, the obtained compounds have Cl in 1 and +5 oxidation states.

Hence, option B is correct.
