Question

If d(Q,R) = 25, d(P,R) = 45, What must be the value of d(P,Q) if the points P,Q,R are on the same straight line and Q lies in between P and R
  1. 30
  2. 70
  3. 50
  4. 20

Solution

The correct option is D 20
Given P, Q and R are on the same straight line and Q lies between P and R .
So. d(P,Q) + d(Q,R) = d(P,R).
As d(Q,R) = 25 and d(P,R) = 45
d(P,Q) + 25 = 45
d(P,Q) =  45-25 = 20
d(P,Q)= 20
