In $△$ BDC, By Pythagoras theorem

$B{D}^2=D{c}^2+B{c}^2$

As all sides of square are equal

$\Rightarrow B{D}^2=2D{C}^2\Rightarrow BD=\sqrt{2}DC\Rightarrow DC=\frac{13}{\sqrt{2}}cm$

$\Rightarrow side=\frac{13\sqrt{2}}{2}cm=9.165cm$
