Question

If tanθ+secθ=4, then value of: sinθcosθ

Open in App
Solution

tanθ+secθ=4 ....(i)
We know that sec2θtan2θ=1 ....(ii)
Dividing (ii) by (i) we have
sec2θtan2θsecθ+tanθ=14 i.e. secθtanθ=14
On addition of (i) and (ii) gives
2secθ=4+14=174
or secθ=178 i.e. cosθ=817
Now sinθ=1cos2θ=64289=225289=1517
sinθcosθ=817×1517=120189
