Solution
The correct option is D The flow of blood into the pulmonary artery will be reduced. In the right ventricle, the pulmonary artery opens. The orifice between the right atrium and right ventricle is guarded by the tricuspid valve which is held by chordae tandine. This valve prevents the backflow of blood during the contraction of the right ventricle. If due to any reason they are not working properly, blood may backflow during ventricular contraction and less blood will enter into pulmonary artery which will reduce the flow of blood in the pulmonary artery.
Thus, the correct answer is ' The flow of blood into the pulmonary artery will be reduced.'
