  1. The human heart is divided into four chambers: two atria and two ventricles. The major purpose of the bicuspid and tricuspid valves is to keep blood from flowing backwards from the ventricles to the atria on their respective sides.
  2. Between the right atrium and the right ventricle is the tricuspid valve. Deoxygenated blood, which originates from all regions of the body and is directed to the lungs for oxygenation, is dealt with on the right side of the heart.
