If each edge of a cube is doubled. How many times will its new surface area ?

Open in App
Solution

Let the edge of the cube be x.
Then edge of the new cube formed =2 x
Surface area of the original cube =6x2
Surface area of the new cube when edge is doubled =6(2x)2=6(4x2)=4(6x2)
Surface area of the new cube =4× Surface area of the original cube
Hence, the surface area of the new cube becomes 4 times that of the original cube.
