$(a - 2) x^{2} + (a^{2} - 3 a + 2) x + (a^{2} - 4) = 0$

$(a - 2) x^{2} + (a^{2} - 2 a - a + 2) x + (a - 2) (a + 2) = 0$

$\Rightarrow (a - 2) x^{2} + (a - 2) (a - 1) x + (a - 2) (a + 2) = 0$ as it is an identity.

$\Rightarrow a - 2 = 0 \Rightarrow a = 2$
$\Rightarrow (a - 2) (a - 1) = 0 \Rightarrow a = 2, 1$

$\Rightarrow (a - 2) (a + 2) = 0 \Rightarrow a = - 2, 2$

So, ${2} \cap {2, 1} \cap {- 2, 2} = 2$

So $a = 2$
