Solution

The correct option is B XY
The sex of the baby is determined by the chromosome pattern in the cells. A human male has an XY chromosome while a female has XX chromosomes as allosomes (sex chromosome). Animals with two different sex chromosomes are called heterogametic ( like a human male, XY), as they produce two different types of gametes, X and Y containing gametes. Animals with same-sex chromosomes are called homogametic (like human female XX) as they produce only X containing gametes. Therefore, all the haploid female gametes have the sex chromosome X, however, the haploid male gametes have either X or Y. Thus 50% of the sperm carry X-chromosome and 50%of the sperm carry Y- chromosome. After fusion of the gametes, when forming a new zygote, it carries either XX or XY chromosomes. The zygote carrying XX will become a female and the zygote carrying XY will become a male. This is the reason, why the fathers are considered responsible for the sex of the baby. The baby which got XY will develop all the male secondary characters in the later stages of his life.

Mullerian inhibiting factor ( MI) or anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) produced by the Sertoli cells in male fetuses, plays a significant role in sexual differentiation. It signals the regression of the Mullerian ducts, fallopian tubes, and uterus (the regression of the female’s secondary characters).
