Question

If in aquatic plants the stomata is found in the upper side of the leaves for easier absorption of light energy, then why is it not the same in terrestrial plants where stomata is found on the lower epidermis ?

Solution

In terrestrial plants, there are less stomata in upper epidermis because they are more exposed to sun light and wind flow which results in more loss of water than in lower surface. The more number of stomata in the lower epidermis reduce the rate of transpiration through stomata.
