The correct option is C 3.6 cm
As we know,

$\frac{A D}{B D} = \frac{A E}{C E}$ (By B.P. Theorem)

Let, BD = x

$∴ \frac{2.4}{x} = \frac{3.2}{4.8}$

$\Rightarrow 3.2 x = 2.4 \times 4.8$

$∴ x = \frac{2.4 \times 4.8}{3.2}$ = $3.6 c m$
