$\Rightarrow$ John loose $9\%$ on bicycle.

$\Rightarrow$ $C.P.=\frac{100}{100-Loss\%}\times S.P.$

$\Rightarrow$ Cost price of bicycle = $\frac{100}{100-9}\times 1274=$Rs.$1,400$

$\Rightarrow$ Cost price of bicycle to get $5\%$ profit = $\frac{5}{100}\times 1400+1400=70+1400=$Rs.$1470$
