From photoelectric effect the relation is as follows :

If light of wavelength λ1 is allowed to fall on a metal, then kinetic energy of photoelectrons emitted is E1 given as :

hcλ1=W+E1

hc=(W+E1)λ1.............(1)

If wavelength of light changes to λ2 then kinetic energy of electrons also change to E2 then

hcλ2=W+E2

hc=(W+E2)λ2..........(2)

Solving equation (1) and (2)

Wλ1+E1λ1=Wλ2+E2λ2

W(λ1λ2)=E2λ2E1λ1

W=E2λ2E1λ1(λ1λ2)

W=E1λ1E2λ2(λ2λ1)
