The correct option is A $3$
$log (x - 2) + log (x + 2) = log 5$
$log (x - 2) (x + 2) = log 5$
$log (x^{2} - 4) = log 5$
$x^{2} - 4 = 5$ .....removing log
$∴ x^{2} = 9$
$∴ x = 3 o r x = - 3$
