Question

If $$m = 2$$, find the value of :
i) $$m - 2$$
ii) $$3m - 5$$
iii) $$9 - 5m$$
iv) $$3m^2 - 2m - 7$$
v) $$\dfrac{5m}{2} 4$$

Solution

Value of $$m=2$$

(1) $$m-2=2-2$$
    $$=0$$

(2) $$3m-5=3(2)-5$$
     $$=6-5=1$$

(3) $$9-5m=9-5(2)$$
     $$=9-10=-1$$

(4) $$3{ m }^{ 2 }-2m-7$$
     $$=3{ \left( 2 \right)  }^{ 2 }-2\left( 2 \right) -7$$
     $$=3\left( 4 \right) -4-7$$
     $$=12-11=1$$

(5) $$\frac { 5m }{ 2 } 4$$

     $$=\frac { 5\times 2 }{ 2 } \times 4$$
     $$=5\times 4=20$$
