Solution

The correct option is A Primary follicle starts developing
Fertilisation
The fusion of the haploid (n) spermatozoon with the haploid ovum (n) is known as fertilisation which results in the formation of a diploid zygote (2n).

Lack of fertilisation
Lack of fertilisation leads to the following events in the female body:
1)Degeneration of the corpus luteum results in less production of progesterone and estrogen.
2)This causes disintegration of the endometrium leading to menstruation.

Development of the primary follicles
During the embryonic development stage, millions of gamete mother cells are formed within each fetal ovary. No more oogonia are formed and added after birth. Oogonia divide by mitosis to form primary oocytes. The primary oocyte gets surrounded by a layer of granulosa cells and is then called the primary follicle. This happens during the fetal stage, not at puberty.

Final answer
(B) Primary follicle starts developing
