Given, MAN is coded as 28.
Clearly, on putting A = 1, B = 2, C = 3 and so on, we have
MAN = M + A + N = 13 + 1 + 14 = 28
Similarly, CHILD is coded as:
CHILD = C + H + I + L + D = 3 + 8 + 9 + 12 + 4 = 36
Hence, option (B) is the correct answer.
