We know that, Cosec2θ-Cot2θ=1Cosecθ + CotθCosecθ - Cotθ=1 ...1And given that Cosecθ - Cotθ=x ...2So substituting in equation 1Cosecθ + Cotθx=1Cosecθ + Cotθ=1x ...3Adding equations 2 and 32Cosecθ=x+1xCosecθ=x2+12xSinθ=2xx2+1=PH SO by Pythagoras theorem B=H2-P2=x2+12-2x2=x4+1+2x2-4x2=x4+1-2x2=x2-12=x2-1So, cosθ=BH=x2-1x2+1
