Question

If one aqueous solution freezes at 0.930C; then at what temperature it boils? [For water kf=1.86K kg mol1,kb=0.52K kg mol1]

Open in App
Solution

ΔTf=Kf.m
ΔTf=depression in freezing point=0(0.93)=0.93
m=molality
So, 0.93=1.86m
m=0.5 kg/mol
Also, ΔTb=Kb.m
ΔTb=elevation in boiling point=Tb1000C (where Tb is boiling point of solution)
Tb100=0.52×0.5
Tb=0.26+100=100.260C
